Once you have completed your tasks hand it into the Head of History and gain points towards a fantastic trip to Escape Rooms, Wild Wadi or Ski Dubai.
History KS3 Stretch & Challenge task
Aims:
Research the history of the Islamic World.
Pre Task Reading:


Task 1) Write a 500 word summary of one of the following
:
- The Rashidun Caliphate
- The Umayyad Caliphate
- The Abbasid Caliphate
- The expansion of the Ottoman Empire under Suleiman the Magnificent
- The Mughal Empire in India
Task 2)
Write a 500 word report on the Sykes-Picot Agreement.
This was signed at the end of the First World War; how did it shape the Arab world in the 20th Century?
Task 3)
Write a 1000 word essay on Islamic-Christian relations.
You may choose 2 of the following case-studies, or one of your own;
- Islamic Expansion in the years 800-1100
- The Rise of the Ottoman Empire, with particular focus on its impact on Venice and the Hapsburg Empire
- Barbary Pirates
- Queen Elizabeth I of England and the Ottomans
- The importance of Islamic scientific ideas and their impact on Europe
- Lawrence of Arabia
- The challenge of Islamic Extremism and how countries like the USA and UAE have co-operated to face the challenge.
History KS4 Stretch & Challenge task
Aims: Research the history of the Islamic World.

Task 1)Research the First World War in Eastern Europe and/or the Middle East. Write a 500-1000 word summary of the key events
Task 2) Write a biography of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Huey Newton or James Meredith. List their main achievements.
Task 3)Write a biography of Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, Elizabeth Garret Anderson or Paul Ehrlich. List their main achievements.
Task 4)
Create a who’s who profile of the leading members of the Nazi regime. List their jobs, responsibilities and crimes they may have committed.
